How we calculate the SEO Audit Tool
What it measures
22 weighted on-page SEO factors, checked directly against the live HTML of the page you enter.
How it works
- 1The tool fetches the page's actual HTML (via a real request, not a cached snapshot) and parses it.
- 2Each check — title tag length, meta description length, heading structure, image alt text, canonical tag, and others — is scored individually with its own weight, based on well-established on-page SEO conventions (e.g. title tags in the 15–60 character range).
- 3Weighted scores sum to a total out of 100, mapped to a letter grade.
Real limitations
- This checks on-page HTML factors only — it doesn't measure backlinks, rankings, or off-page authority.
- A perfect score doesn't guarantee ranking; these are necessary hygiene factors, not the whole picture.
